The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
We thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your promise never to leave or forsake us. We are also grateful for friends and colleagues that surround us to help along life's way. We thank You for those who give guidance, counsel and a good example. We thank You for moments of success which inspire new endeavors and even for times of failure that keep us humble and remind us of our much need of Your help. May we never shirk our duty or leave to others that which we should do. May our every doing be such as to bring a blessing to others and a contentment to ourselves.
Hear this, our morning prayer, made in Your Holy Name. Amen.
