The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
O God our Lord, Whose Word is faultless and that inspires us to the noblest and the best, grant to us discerning minds to distinguish between truth and error. Save us from being embittered by ingratitude, pettiness, meaness and from cowardly compromise. With unfaltering courage may we fight the good fight, nourished by the Bread from Heaven. Teach us to know that when we forget You, we labor in vain and our efforts come to naught. But in doing Your will we find a lasting Joy and an enduring peace .
Hear us, good Lord, as we pray in the Name of a kind and forgiving Saviour. Amen.
