The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Reverend J. Stephen Conn, Pastor of the Maranatha Christian Center in Augusta, Georgia as follows:
Our Heavenly Father:
We thank You for the wonderful freedom which allows us to be assembled as we are in this place today. May we never forget the great price which bought that freedom, and may we cherish and defend it at any cost.
We are here to do the work of government, which the Scriptures declare to be the work of God. So we pause now at this mid-day to recognize Your Almighty presence, and to seek Your Divine wisdom and favor.
May you grant each Representative in this Assembly the ears to hear the voices of all of the people whom they represent. Then above the clamor may they have the discernment to hear the still small voice of the Spirit, that their deliberations may be fair and good.
Let every man and woman who serves in this house, speak and act without thought for re-election or self-interest, but only to serve God by serving his or her fellow man.
For in this hallowed hall we bow and proclaim that Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever, Amen.
