The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
O God of truth and wisdom, worthy of a nobler praise than our lips can utter and deserving of a greater devotion than our hearts can express, in Your presence we bow in reverance and gratitude. May the thoughts of our minds be channels of Your goodness. Open our eyes to the manifestation of those things we ought to do. Make us a people thankful for our privileges, faithful in our stewardship, sensitive to the needs of others. Keep our thinking clear and clean, our emotions in complete control. Amid the haste of daily duties and the pressures of persistent problems, may we find from You strength for the day, wisdom to make sound decisions, and divine inspired motives for all our endeavors.
Through Christ Jesus we pray.
Amen.
