AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 50-17-510, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE MINIMUM SIZE LIMITS ON SPOTTED SEA TROUT AND RED DRUM, SO AS TO IMPOSE A MINIMUM SIZE LIMIT OF TWELVE INCHES TOTAL LENGTH ON FLOUNDER AND TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL ALL YEAR INSTEAD OF JUNE TO SEPTEMBER TO TAKE, CATCH, POSSESS, LAND, OR SELL A RED DRUM UNDER MINIMUM SIZE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Red drum, spotted sea trout, and flounder; size limits

SECTION 1. Section 50-17-510(4)(a) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 436 of 1988, is further amended to read:

"(a) It is unlawful to take, catch, have in possession, land, or sell a spotted sea trout (Cynoscion nebulosus), known locally as winter trout, or flounder (Paralichthys) of less than twelve inches in total length or a red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), known locally as channel or spot-tail bass, of less than fourteen inches in total length."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
