AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-660, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MOTOR CARRIERS, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT UPON EVIDENCE OF RELIABILITY IN THE PAYMENT OF ITS OBLIGATIONS THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION MAY ACCEPT THE CHECK OF A MOTOR CARRIER COMPANY IN PAYMENT OF APPLICABLE FEES AND ASSESSMENTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Motor carriers may make payments by check

SECTION 1. Section 56-3-660 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding at the end:

"Upon evidence of reliability in the payment of its obligations, the department may accept the check of a motor carrier company in payment of applicable fees and assessments."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
