AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 12-35-550, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE EXEMPTIONS FROM SALES TAX, SO AS TO EXEMPT SALES TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF ELECTRICITY AND OF WAYS OR MEANS FOR TRANSMISSION OF THE VOICE OR MESSAGES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Exemptions added

SECTION 1. Section 12-35-550(42) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(42) The gross proceeds of the sale of tangible personal property to the federal government, including gross proceeds subject to the tax under Sections 12-35-1140 and 12-35-1150."

Applicability

SECTION 2. The provisions of Section 1 of this act apply to sales made on and after July 1, 1989.

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
