Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Almighty God, You have given us this great land for our heritage. Make us always to remember Your many goodnesses. Continue to bless us with good industry, progressive education, and an honorable way of life. Save us from discord and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every course of evil action. We thank You for our creation and preservation. Give us such an awareness of Your countless blessings that with thankful hearts we may show forth our praise, not only with our lips, but also with our lives. In the sure knowledge of Your constant presence, may our every activity begin, continue and end in Your way and to the glory of Your holy Name.

In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

At 10:10 A.M. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 17.
