The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Eternal Father, we give hearty thanks for all the blessings You so abundantly bestow upon us. We commend ourselves and all who are near and dear to us to Your continual care and protection. Give us insight to see what is right, inspiration to do what is right and industry to keep on doing what is right. We pray especially for these leaders in government that they may be wise and just in their decisions, and for all Your people that they may be loyal to Your laws. Grant that this great Nation may ever be the land of liberty, the promoter of peace, the sphere of service to others, and the Fountain of faith in Him Who is the God of all mankind.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
