The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
We rejoice, O God, that on this World Day of Prayer we are privileged to lift our thoughts with peoples of 170 countries and regions to recognize You as Lord of all and to join others in looking up to You as Father of men and women and boys and girls everywhere. Hear us as we pray that with hands joined that we work for justice, and a caring and peaceful society; that we may all use the resources that God has entrusted to us. Deepen within us an understanding of what it means to be a people under God.
Knowing the power of prayer, cause us "to pray without ceasing". We pray in the Name of Him Who is always ready to hear us when we pray and to answer us when we call. Amen.
