The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God of wisdom and compassion, keep us this day in health of body, clarity of mind, purity of heart, cheerful in disposition, in contentment with our lot and charity toward our fellowmen. Grant us the ability to rise above frustration and weariness that we might do the right thing in the right way. In our work, strengthen us; in our disappointment, cheer us; in our travel, protect us; in our troubles support us. As we go forth into this day, enable us to do so in the full confidence that You are with us even amid the storms and stress of life.

Through Jesus we make our prayer. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

The following Bill was taken up, read the third time, and ordered returned to the Senate with amendments.

S. 1137 -- Senators McLeod, Lourie, Nell W. Smith, Leatherman and Long: A BILL TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING CHAPTER 66 TO TITLE 44 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADULT HEALTH CARE CONSENT ACT.

At 10:15 A.M. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, April 24.
