COMMENDING THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE, THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD, THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENTS, THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY WILDLIFE DEPARTMENT, SOUTH CAROLINA STATE TROOPERS, THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT DIVISION, THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE GREAT FALLS RESCUE SQUAD, AND THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OFFICE FOR THEIR COMBINED HEROIC EFFORTS IN RESCUING THE THREE MEDICAL WORKERS WHOSE RESCUE HELICOPTER CRASHED ON MAY 29, 1992, IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY.
Whereas, on Friday, May 29, 1992, a tragic and near-fatal accident occurred in Fairfield County when Providence Hospital's LifeReach Program rescue helicopter crashed on the way to render medical assistance to a young child, injuring the helicopter's pilot and the paramedic and the flight nurse who were on board; and
Whereas, the heroic efforts and quick response of the following agencies helped to save the helicopter's personnel and avert what undoubtedly would otherwise have been a truly disastrous situation: the Fairfield County Emergency Medical Service, the Fairfield County Rescue Squad, the Fairfield County volunteer fire departments, the Fairfield County Wildlife Department, the South Carolina State Troopers, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division, the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department, the Great Falls Rescue Squad, and the Fairfield County Emergency Preparedness Office; and
Whereas, we are immensely proud of the efforts of these outstanding agencies and their dedicated personnel in this rescue operation and are grateful for their excellent work, and we find them highly deserving of recognition and commendation. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend the outstanding agencies and their personnel cited in this resolution for their combined heroic efforts in rescuing the three medical workers whose rescue helicopter crashed on May 29, 1992, in Fairfield County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to each of the agencies named above.
