TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. SAMUEL JOSEPH FRETWELL, SR., OF ANDERSON UPON HIS DEATH.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Samuel Joseph Fretwell, Sr., of Anderson on March 9, 1991; and
Whereas, Sam Fretwell was a native of Anderson, a graduate of Boy's High School and attended Duke University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and was president of the Panhellenic Association; and
Whereas, he was respected by all those who knew him as a man of integrity in his public and private life. He served his community in many ways including two terms on the Anderson City Council, and as a member of the Appalachian Council Board and the South Carolina Municipal Association; and
Whereas, Sam Fretwell was also a successful businessman and realtor in Anderson and was a former president of the Anderson Board of Realtors, a former director of the Anderson Community Chest, and a former member of the Anderson Rotary Club; and
Whereas, he was a man of God and a leader of the First Presbyterian Church of Anderson where he served as a deacon, an elder, and was a member of the men's Bible class; and
Whereas, with the death of this outstanding man the people of Anderson and the State of South Carolina have lost a respected businessman, a civic and community leader, and a good friend; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, and other family and friends upon his death. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Samuel Joseph Fretwell, Sr., of Anderson upon his death.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Margaret Parker Fretwell.
