TO AMEND CHAPTER 23, TITLE 57, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 18 SO AS TO DESIGNATE STATE HIGHWAY 145 IN CHESTERFIELD COUNTY AS THE "CAROLINA SANDHILLS SCENIC HIGHWAY".
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 23, Title 57 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 57-23-910. State Highway 145 from the foothills of the Uwharrie Mountains near the North Carolina State line through Chesterfield County, to U. S. Highway 1 is designated as a scenic highway to be known as the `Carolina Sandhills Scenic Highway'. The State Department of Highways and Public Transportation, the Department of Archives and History, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, and all other state agencies or governmental entities shall cooperate in the installation of appropriate markers and signs to implement the designation.
Section 57-23-920. State Highway 145 designated as a scenic highway by this article is subject to the provisions of the Highway Advertising Control Act. However, any new off-premises outdoor advertising is prohibited on `Carolina Sandhills Scenic Highway' after the effective date of this article."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
