A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE LUGOFF-ELGIN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASEBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE 3A STATE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1992.

Whereas, the Lugoff-Elgin High School Boys Baseball Team captured the 3A State High School Boys Baseball Championship Thursday, May 28, 1992, upon defeating the Lake City High School Boys Baseball team at Optimist Field; and

Whereas, the Demons began and ended the state championship series at home after game two in a sweep of the best-of-three series; and

Whereas, the victory game gave Lugoff-Elgin High School its first team championship in any sport in its twenty years of existence. However, Demon athletes have won individual state titles in track and field and wrestling; and

Whereas, Coach Paul Kirkland, his assistant coaches, and the players ended their season with a 23-8 overall record; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to recognize the athletic ability and the hard work of the Lugoff-Elgin High School Boys Baseball Team and the dedicated leadership of Coach Kirkland and his staff; and

Whereas, in giving Lugoff-Elgin High School its first team championship in any sport, this team will be remembered for more than just this year's 3A State High School Boys Baseball Champions. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the House of Representatives congratulates the Lugoff-Elgin High School Boys Baseball Team upon winning the 3A State High School Boys Baseball Championship Thursday, May 28, 1992.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Paul Kirkland.
