AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE COLLETON COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION MUST BE APPOINTED BY AND SHALL SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE COLLETON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT RATHER THAN BE ELECTED AND TO MAKE THIS CHANGE IN THE METHOD OF CHOOSING THE SUPERINTENDENT EFFECTIVE AFTER THE GENERAL ELECTION OF 1992.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Superintendent to be appointed
SECTION 1. Effective following the 1992 general election, the Colleton County Superintendent of Education must be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Board of Trustees of the Colleton County School District. The elected superintendent of education serving on the effective date of this act shall continue to serve until the general election of 1992 and until his successor is appointed and qualifies in the manner provided in this section.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
