The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
O God, our Father, Who alone knows what this day will bring, grant that in all its activities we may remain close to You. Forbid that we should test our thoughts, words or deeds by our own faulty standards but by those divine teachings that have withstood the ages. Enable us to live lives that are clean, strong, honest, trustworthy and serviceable. Make us part of that program where injustice is overcome by justice, indecency by decency, hate by love. Help us to live wisely this day, never scorning the past or fearing the future.
We pray in the Name of Him Who walked the hard road before us.
Amen.
