TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-29-75 SO AS TO PROHIBIT AFTER JUNE 30, 1994, THE SALE OR OFFER FOR SALE OF A MANUFACTURED HOME UNLESS A SPRINKLER SYSTEM IS INSTALLED, AND TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL TO PROMULGATE REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE TYPE OF SPRINKLER SYSTEM REQUIRED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 40-29-75. After June 30, 1994, no person may sell or offer for sale a manufactured home unless a sprinkler system is installed in the home. The State Fire Marshal shall promulgate regulations specifying the type of sprinkler system which must be installed."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
