TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-9-133 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR AN ARCHERY HUNTING LICENSE AND PENALTIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-9-133. (A) It is unlawful for a person to take, attempt to take, or pursue game species using archery equipment without first procuring a state archery license and having this license for the year in his possession while hunting game. This license is required in addition to other appropriate state hunting licenses or permits. The South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department shall furnish the license to its authorized agents for sale in the same manner as other types of licenses.
(B) The fee for the license is eight dollars. One dollar of the license fee may be retained by the issuing agent, and the balance must be paid to the department. The license expires on the last day of June following issuance.
(C) A person who violates this section, upon conviction, must be fined not less than one hundred nor more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 1994.
