CONGRATULATING BAKER'S CHAPEL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF GREENVILLE ON BEING SELECTED AS A "NATIONAL SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE", AND COMMENDING THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF OF THE SCHOOL FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING HARD WORK AND COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION.
Whereas, Baker's Chapel Elementary School of Greenville has been selected as a "National School of Excellence"; and
Whereas, Mrs. Nancy J. Farnsworth, Principal of Baker's Chapel School, received notification from the United States Department of Education in February of 1993 that the school had survived a very rigorous review process in fine style and had been chosen for national recognition in the 1991-92 Blue Ribbon Schools Program, Elementary Division; and
Whereas, Baker's Chapel Elementary School will receive its award as a "National School of Excellence" on May 14, 1993, in a special ceremony in the White House Rose Garden expected to be attended by President Clinton and Secretary of Education Dick Riley; and
Whereas, the school also has received the Redbook magazine award as being one of the best elementary schools in the nation; and
Whereas, clearly Baker's Chapel Elementary School serves as a model for other schools seeking to provide high-quality education for their students; and
Whereas, we are extremely proud of this excellent Greenville County school and feel that the dedication and the efforts of the school's students, faculty, and staff have brought honor to the people of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Baker's Chapel Elementary School of Greenville on being selected as a "National School of Excellence" and commends the students, faculty, and staff of the school for their outstanding hard work and commitment to excellent in education.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Nancy J. Farnsworth, Principal of Baker's Chapel Elementary School.
