EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE LONNIE A. GARVIN, SR. OF AIKEN COUNTY, FORMER MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the Honorable Lonnie A. Garvin of Aiken County died on May 21, 1993, at the age of eight-four; and
Whereas, he was a longtime Aiken County political figure, was one of the early developers of the Aiken community, and was a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from Aiken County; and
Whereas, he was a 1931 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of law and was a senior member of the Aiken County Bar; and
Whereas, he was an outstanding individual who meant much to Aiken and who will be greatly missed; and
Whereas, we want the members of his family and his many friends to know that they are in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of the Honorable Lonnie A. Garvin of Aiken County, former member of the House of Representatives, and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Garvin's family.
