EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF TIMOTHY BRAD HERLONG OF GREENWOOD COUNTY, AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Timothy Brad Herlong of Greenwood died on November 12, 1993, at the age of seventeen; and
Whereas, young Brad Herlong was an outstanding individual in every way who brought joy to everyone who knew him; and
Whereas, Brad was a tenth grade student at Greenwood High School, a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Greenwood, and a honorary member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 906, in which he had obtained the rank of Eagle; and
Whereas, he was also an honorary member of the United States Navy, obtaining the rank of Chief, and was a member of the Lasting Impressions Support Group of Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia; and
Whereas, Brad, who heroically battled cancer for seven years, had the love and support of his community who pulled together to raise funds of at least $2,500 for his treatment; and
Whereas, Brad possessed determination and wisdom beyond his years and was known and admired for his courage, optimism, and generous nature; and
Whereas, we want his family and many friends to know that they are uppermost in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express profound sorrow at the death of Timothy Brad Herlong of Greenwood County and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Brad's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Mike Herlong, III, 118 Cothran Drive, Greenwood.
