Whereas, Mary Woods of Taylors is the principal of Taylors Elementary School; and
Whereas, she was chosen for the National Distinguished Principal Award; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals selected Mrs. Woods as a way of giving credit to the leadership that makes a school stand out and to even qualify, a principal must be in charge of a school that has won the Palmetto's Finest Award, which recognizes the best schools in the State each year; and
Whereas, each state and territory chooses a winner and all winners are recognized at a national ceremony by the National Association of Elementary School Principals; and
Whereas, the teachers and parents have to nominate the principal for the award which makes the award extra special; and
Whereas, Mrs. Woods has been in the teaching profession starting in Greenville County as a teacher twenty-two years ago and taught in Spartanburg County and in New York before that; and
Whereas, Mrs. Woods has demonstrated her leadership abilities and has the support of her staff and community. Now, therefore,
