The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Our Father God, facing the demanding duties of this day and conscious of the tasks before us, we come to You in prayer. Make us ready for every responsibility, equal to every experience and adequate for every activity. Forgive us when our faith weakens. Give us strength when we falter, steady us when we stumble, make us a people grateful for our privileges, and sensitive to needs of those that we meet along the way.

Give us the courage of the Psalmist when he said: "The Lord is the strength of my life." (Psalm 27:1). Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

At 10:10 A.M. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, January 19.
