The House assembled at 2:00 P.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Lord, You know how impatient we often are. We want it all, and we want it right now. We are afraid we will run out of time before we get all the things we want. Grant us, Heavenly Father, the virtue of patience - patience with You and with others. Help us to see that Your schedule may be quite different from ours, and that all that You have to give will be given in Your good time. Teach us to know that part-time reliance upon God, like a part-time job, will not fully support us; and that happiness is found along the way, not only at the end of it.
Thank You, our never failing Friend, for this privilege of prayer. Amen.
