Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Almighty God, always ready to hear us when we pray and to answer us when we call, lift us above the failures and frustration of the past that we may gird ourselves adequately for the tasks of this day and for the tasks that lie ahead. May the plans that we make, heightened by hope, be fruitful by fidelity. Keep our steps steady, our faith strong, our decisions wise that even when testings come, we may remain steadfast. Enlighten our minds, purify our hearts, strengthen our hands.

To this end keep our honor bright and our devotion to Your teachings deep and true.

In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
