South Carolina General Assembly
110th Session, 1993-1994
Journal of the Senate

Tuesday, January 25, 1994

(Statewide Session)

The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear The Word from the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 9 (v.31):

"If any man be a worshiper of God

and doeth His Will,

Him He heareth."
Let us pray.

Our God and Father, we thank You for the mercy... and the privilege... of a new week of life together.

We thank You that we know that You have an ear receptive to mankind's call in prayer, and our authority for that belief is the Good News according to St. John.

So, our first petition is that we understand that Your hearing of our prayers has something to do with our willingness to be obedient to the divine Will after we come to know what it is.

May we thoroughly understand the conditions of Your hearing.

We know that You have an ear to hear the beat of every heart when youthful aspirations blend with older folk's frustrations.

May we hear, each day, the bugle call to highest standard, and be willing gladly to go walk under the banner of the "tried-and-true" principles of those who have found the secrets of the Kingdom of God... in Whose Name we pray.

Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
