TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-370 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT AN ADDITIONAL DOLLAR MUST BE ADDED TO THE TICKET PRICE OF INTERCOLLEGIATE FOOTBALL GAMES AND MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAMES AT STATE-SUPPORTED COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES, THE PROCEEDS FROM WHICH MUST BE DEPOSITED IN A FUND SEPARATE AND DISTINCT FROM THE STATE GENERAL FUND AND USED FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF PROFESSORS' SALARIES, RECRUITMENT, TRAINING, AND RESEARCH.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-370. In addition to the admission or ticket price of any intercollegiate football game or any men's or women's intercollegiate basketball game of a state-supported college or university of this State which is subject to the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics, or the National Junior College Athletic Association, an additional one dollar must be added to the admission or ticket price which must be deposited in a fund separate and distinct from the state general fund and used for the enhancement of professors' salaries, recruitment, training, and research in the manner the General Assembly shall provide. The State Treasurer shall invest the monies in this fund in the same manner and under the same terms and conditions as other state public funds are invested, and earnings on this separate fund must remain in the fund and may be used only for its stated purposes."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
