RECOGNIZING MRS. VIRGINIA PADGETT BIGGERSTAFF OF LANCASTER COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER A THIRTY-YEAR TEACHING CAREER AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES FOR A LONG AND FULFILLING RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Virginia Padgett "Gigi" Biggerstaff of Lancaster County is retiring after thirty years of teaching; and
Whereas, Mrs. Biggerstaff graduated from Meredith College and obtained a Masters from Winthrop University; and
Whereas, this mother of three children and soon to be four grandchildren is married to William Thomas Biggerstaff and has taught at Lancaster High School since August 28, 1968; and
Whereas, among her many worthwhile contributions are her noteworthy service as chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Lancaster High School and the creation in 1982 of the Lancaster Rhythm singing group which has performed for several South Carolina Governors and is known countywide for singing at community functions; and
Whereas, it is fitting that the members of the General Assembly recognize Virginia Padgett (Gigi) Biggerstaff on the occasion of her retirement from thirty years of teaching. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize Mrs. Virginia Padgett "Gigi" Biggerstaff of Lancaster County upon the occasion of her retirement from a thirty-year teaching career and extend best wishes for a long and fulfilling retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Biggerstaff.
