The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O Lord our God, as we stand on the threshold of the Passover, Good Friday and Easter, we pray that we would come to these days with increased reverence and thankfulness as we see therein to what extent our Heavenly Father will go for His children. Keep us unendingly grateful that we have a God Who loves us so much, and causes us "to love Him Who first loved us." Guide our steps, keep us strong in times of temptation. Make us strong enough to meet demands with knowledge, difficulties with Your help, and doubts with a faith that no darkness can dim.

At all times give us the confidence of the Psalmist when he wrote: "From everlasting to everlasting You are God." (Psalm 9:2b) Amen.

The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Almighty God, we thank You for Your appealing voice and Your beckoning call. We rejoice that You are always seeking to minister to our needs: quieting our restlessness, healing our heartaches, comforting our sorrows, forgiving us in our wrongdoings. Set us free from everything that would undermine our faith to hold us back from complete surrender to the way You would have us to go. Forbid that we should walk on the lower level when You are calling us to take the lofty way. Give us strength and courage when temptations would pull us aside.

And to You, Lord, we give our unending praise and thanksgiving. Amen.
