The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Our Father God, we thank You for this new day with its new outlook, new opportunities, and new frontiers. Put within us the will to do well what lies ahead. Help us to order our lives that we have time for prayer and time for people seeing friends as among the most valuable of life's assets. Deliver us from being too easily discouraged, from giving up, or giving in too soon. Above all, inspire us to do Your bidding with all our might, that when evening comes we may have peace in our hearts and wisdom for the days yet to come.

Lead us, then, this day and every day. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God, our Heavenly Father, we thank You for the awakening beauty of the earth around. With clear vision and grateful hearts, may we behold Your presence in the new birth of Springtime. Forbid that we should walk in the garden of loveliness with eyes that do not see or hearts that do not sing. As the miracle of life is seen anew in the tiniest bloom, in every blade of grass, and in budding branches against the bending sky, may the wonder of it all rebuke our cold cynicism, the joy of it restore our tired hope, and the loveliness of it enrich our understanding of God's handiwork which is sure.

To an all-powerful God we make our prayer. Amen.

Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
