15 EXEMPTIONS TO THIS REQUIREMENT TO MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL GUARD ACTING IN AN OFFICIAL
16 CAPACITY DRIVING STATE VEHICLES; AND TO AMEND SECTION 59-67-510, RELATING TO USES ALLOWED FOR
17 SCHOOL BUSES, SO AS TO ALLOW COUNTY BOARDS OF EDUCATION TO PERMIT THE USE OF SCHOOL BUSES
18 FOR OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE NATIONAL GUARD AND PERMIT THE OPERATION OF BUSES BY THE
19 NATIONAL GUARD IN CONNECTION WITH ITS OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS.

21 A. Section 56-1-2070(B)(1) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

23 "(1) active duty military personnel and reservists and National Guard members who are acting in an official capacity on active duty
24 while operating vehicles owned by the United States or the state government, unless they are required by the owner of the vehicle to have a
25 valid state driver's license;"

27 B. Section 59-67-510 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

29 "Section 59-67-510. County boards of education may permit the use of school bus equipment for transportation in connection with
30 athletic events, boys' and girls' clubs, special events in connection with the schools, official functions by the National Guard and such
31 other educational purposes as may appear proper to the respective boards; and may permit the operation of school bus equipment by the
32 National Guard for transportation in connection with official functions of the National Guard."
