14          19.1.   (MUSM: Duplicate Materials)  The Commission may give (away) natural history materials in its possession for educational
15     purposes, such materials being less than museum quality or duplicative of materials owned by the Museum Commission.
16          19.2.   (MUSM: Removal From Collections)  The Commission may remove objects from its museum collections by gift to another
17     public or nonprofit institution, by trade with another public or nonprofit institution, by public sale, by transfer to the Commission's
18     education, exhibit, or study collections or to its operating property inventory; or as a last resort, by intentional destruction on the condition
19     that the objects so removed meet with one or more of the following criteria:  (1) they fall outside the scope of the S. C. Museum
20     Commission's collections as defined in the  Collection Policy dated January 20, 1993, (2) they are unsuitable for exhibition or research, (3)
21     they are inferior duplicates of other objects in the collection, or (4) they are forgeries or were acquired on the basis of false information;
22     funds from the sale of such objects will be placed in a special revolving account for the Commission to use solely for the purpose of
23     purchasing objects for the collections of the State Museum.
24          19.3.   (MUSM: Museum Store)  The Museum Commission shall establish and administer a museum store in the State Museum.  This
25     store may produce, acquire, and sell merchandise relating to historical, scientific, and cultural sources.  All profits received from the sale of
26     such merchandise shall be retained by the Museum Commission in a restricted fund to be carried forward into the following fiscal year.
27     These funds may be used for store operations, publications, acquisitions, educational programs, exhibit production and general operating
28     expenses provided that the expenditures for such expenses are approved by the General Assembly in the annual Appropriation Act.
29          19.4.   (MUSM: Traveling Exhibits Fees)  The Museum Commission may rent or sell exhibits and exhibit components and  the
30     Commission may retain such funds and use them to offset the cost of developing, maintaining, promoting, and improving the changing
31     exhibit program and to support general operations, provided that the expenditures for such expenses are approved by the General
32     Assembly in the annual Appropriation Act.  Any unexpended revenue from these sources may be carried forward into the current fiscal
33     year to be expended for the same purposes.
34          19.5.   (MUSM: Retention of Revenue)  The Museum Commission may retain revenue received from admissions, program fees, facility

 1     rentals, professional services, donations and other miscellaneous operating income and may expend such revenue for general operating
 2     expenses provided that such expenditures are approved by the General Assembly in the annual appropriations act.  Any unexpended
 3     revenue from these sources may be carried forward into the current fiscal year to be expended for the same purposes.
 4          19.6.   (MUSM: Across-the-Board Cut Exemption)  In the calculation of any across-the-board cut mandated by the Budget and Control
 5     Board or General Assembly, the amount of the Museum's rent which the Commission pays to the South Carolina Heritage Associates for
 6     rent of the Museum's rent General Services for the retirement of General Revenue Bonds shall be excluded from the Museum's base
 7     budget.
 8          19.7.   (MUSM: School Tour Fee Prohibition)  The Commission may not charge admission fees to groups of children from South
 9     Carolina who have made reservations that are touring the museum as part of a school function.
10          19.8.   (MUSM: Dining Area Rent)  Of the space currently vacant in the Columbia Mills Building, space large enough for the
11     Museum to have dining space for school-aged children shall be provided to the State Museum at no cost.
