TO CONGRATULATE JOHN AND THELMA BAILEY OF RICHLAND COUNTY UPON CELEBRATING THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, AND TO EXTEND TO THEM BEST WISHES FOR MANY MORE YEARS OF HAPPINESS TOGETHER.
Whereas, John and Thelma Bailey were married on March 29, 1947 -- a marriage that will reach the half-century mark on March 29, 1997; and
Whereas, John and Thelma Bailey are devoted to each other and have joyfully stood together as a model-married couple for fifty years; and
Whereas, they are the proud parents of four children, have fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; and
Whereas, they are active members of Second Calvary Baptist Church in Columbia, where John serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Deacon Board; and
Whereas, John is a retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and Thelma retired as principal of the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School; and
Whereas, John is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Thelma is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority; and
Whereas, John serves as chairman of two committees on the District 73 Task Force; and
Whereas, we want the Baileys to know that our thoughts are with them on this splendid occasion and that we share in their joy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey of Richland County on the occasion of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary and to extend to them best wishes for many more years of happiness together.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. and Mrs. John Bailey.
