CONGRATULATING MISS NATALIE KEITH OF MANNING ON WINNING THE TITLE OF "PRE-TEEN SOUTH CAROLINA" IN THE 1997 PRE-TEEN SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOLARSHIP AND RECOGNITION PROGRAM.
Whereas, Miss Natalie Keith, daughter of Drs. Beryl and Edward Keith of Manning, won the title of "Pre-Teen South Carolina" in the Pre-Teen South Carolina Scholarship and Recognition Program held July 18-20, 1997, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Greenville; and
Whereas, Natalie competed with 124 finalists in the "invitation only" event involving young ladies seven to twelve years of age; the competition focuses on the participants' academic records, awards and honors, and participation in outside activities; the young ladies also are invited based on their having been recognized publicly for their outstanding personal achievements, volunteer services, school involvement, leadership abilities, or creative talents; and
Whereas, Natalie also received the award for personal development, the runner-up awards in speech and talent, and the "Spirit of Pre-Teen America Award"; and
Whereas, Natalie will represent the Palmetto State in the 1998 Pre-Teen America national competition to be held July 2-7, 1998, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and
Whereas, she is an outstanding young lady in every way; we are very proud of the accomplishments of this lovely, intelligent, and talented individual, and we know that she will represent South Carolina with great distinction. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Miss Natalie Keith of Manning on winning the title of "Pre-Teen South Carolina" in the 1997 Pre-Teen South Carolina Scholarship and Recognition Program.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Miss Natalie Keith.
