TO AMEND CHAPTER 5, TITLE 20, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-5-385, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN OTHER STATES OR JURISDICTIONS MAY PROVIDE PRO BONO LEGAL SERVICES TO INDIGENT CITIZENS OF THIS STATE IN THE MANNER PROVIDED BY RULE OF THE SUPREME COURT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 40-5-385. Attorneys-at-law licensed to practice in other states or jurisdictions may provide pro bono legal services to indigent citizens of this State in the manner provided by rule of the Supreme Court."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
