The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Lord, help us to make this Legislative Session, now beginning, a good one
. . . not by shielding us from disappointments and discouragements, but by strengthening us to bear them when they come.
. . . not by taking hardships from us, but by taking all cowardice and fear from our hearts as we meet hardships.
. . . not by making our paths always easy, but by making us sturdy enough to tread any path.
. . . not by granting unbroken sunshine, but by keeping our faces bright even in the shadows.
. . . not by making our tasks always pleasant, but by showing us where others and Your plans need us most and by making us zealous to be there and to help.
Lord God, make this Session a good one. Amen.
Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
