The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
Lord God, as You heard the cries of Your people Israel, give us ears to hear the cries of others and hearts that make a difference. Help us to carve time out of our busy schedules to pray. Have mercy and hear us as we pray. Give us discernment to know what to do this day. Help us to be grateful for Your love and for Your forgiveness. Thank You for being faithful to us when we are not faithful to You. Show us what changes need to be made in our lives; then empower us to make those changes.
Amen.
