The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:
O God, by Whose mercy we are sustained and by Whose power we are supported, we turn to You seeking renewal for the duties of this day, for faith for our fearful hearts, and strength for our weak hands. Hold us up by Your strong arm as we endeavor to do our work for the highest good of our beloved State. So move within our lives that me may commit ourselves more fully to You in thought, in word, and in deed. Then may we go forth doing our best for You, O Lord, and for our fellowmen.
In the spirit of the Master we pray. Amen.
