The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
Beloved, hear a prayer of King David, Psalm 5 (2,3):
"Listen to the sound of my cry,
my King and my God, for to You I pray.
O Lord, in the morning You hear my voice;
In the morning I plead my case to
You, and watch."
Let us pray.
Eternal God, our Father, You are the eternal source of life... and light... and strength... and wisdom.
In a world that has become confused, help us to establish in our lives priorities.
Help us to choose the most important objectives for today.
Do not let us fritter away our time and strength with life's trivia.
Give us, O Lord, the lamp of faith, the will to labor with determination, and the desire to walk circumspectly because we move into this day trusting in Him in whose Name we say our prayer.
Amen.
The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
