The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the ACTING PRESIDENT, Senator DRUMMOND.

The following Bill and Joint Resolution were read the third time and ordered sent to the House of Representatives:

S. 1174 -- Senators Glover, Land, Saleeby, McGill, Elliott and Leatherman: A JOINT RESOLUTION TO REQUEST THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO NAME THE CHURCH STREET BRIDGE BETWEEN WEST DARLINGTON STREET AND EAST CHEVES STREET IN FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA, IN HONOR OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., AND TO ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS.

S. 1175 -- Senator Alexander: A BILL TO AMEND ACT 613 OF 1992, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE OCONEE COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF OCONEE COUNTY, SO AS TO STAGGER THE TERMS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE DISTRICT.

S. 1185 -- Senator Reese: A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 50-25-1320, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO WATERCRAFT MOTOR RESTRICTIONS ON LAKE WILLIAM C. BOWEN, SO AS TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE EXCEPTION INBOARD BOATS DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR TOWING WATERSKIERS.

MOTION ADOPTED

Senator DRUMMOND asked unanimous consent to make a motion that, when the Senate stands adjourned on Thursday, April 9, 1998, it stand adjourned to meet on Monday, April 13, 1998, at 11:00 A.M. for local and uncontested matters; and that, when the Senate stands adjourned on Monday, April 13, 1998, it stand adjourned to meet in statewide session on Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at 12:00 Noon.
There was no objection and the motion was adopted.

MOTION ADOPTED

On motion of Senator GROOMS, with unanimous consent, the Senate stood adjourned out of respect to the memory of Kermit Albert Brabham of St. Stephen, S.C.

ADJOURNMENT

At 11:35 A.M., on motion of Senator LAND, the Senate adjourned to meet Monday, April 13, 1998, at 11:00 A.M. under the provisions of Rule 1 for the purpose of taking up local matters and uncontested matters which have previously received unanimous consent to be taken up.
