TO HONOR THE LAURENS DISTRICT 55 HIGH SCHOOL LADY RAIDERS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR SECOND STATE BASKETBALL TITLE IN AS MANY YEARS.
Whereas, the Laurens District 55 High School Lady Raiders Basketball Team took the 1999 Class AAAA State Championship title after a victory over Summerville High School with a score of 62-56 at the University of South Carolina Coliseum on March 12, 1999; and
Whereas, the Lady Raiders are Class AAAA State Champions for the second consecutive year and the first Class AAAA team to go undefeated in consecutive seasons; and
Whereas, the Lady Raiders have posted fifty-eight consecutive wins in their sport and have been ranked the eleventh high school girls' basketball team in the nation by the USA Today newspaper in its March 17, 1999 edition; and
Whereas, members of the Lady Raiders team are Latoria Goggans, Laquinta Neely, Chrissy Floyd, Wendy Fugel, Niva Prince, Ashley Aiken, Yoneko Allen, Jessica Newell, Neicey Walk, Rebecca Wessinger, Christy Blackwell, and Jennifer Wix; and
Whereas, among the girls' many home supporters are Head Coach Travis Langford, Assistant Coach Temple Elmore, Athletic Director Duane Dennie, Principal Tara Dean, Superintendent Dr. Ed Taylor, Managers Casey Rice, Coco Cunningham, and Audrea Mosley, and many parents, family members, and members of the school family and community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly recognize the impressive state and outstanding national ranking of the Laurens District 55 High School Lady Raiders Basketball Team and congratulate them.
