EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. JULIA BENIK OF HORRY COUNTY AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Julia Benik of Horry County, who died on May 23, 1999; and
Whereas, Mrs. Benik was born in Chesterfield, South Carolina, the daughter of the late William Samuel and Mamie Ellen Adams Lewis, and the widow of Rudolph Paul Benik; and
Whereas, she was a graduate of Chesterfield High School and attended the University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mrs. Benik was the founder of Scottish Insurance Agency, a member of the Board of Directors of C&S Bank, and a charter member of the Pierian Club; and
Whereas, a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, she served on numerous committees which included the finance committee; and
Whereas, Mrs. Benik was a member of the Louise Springs Circle, the Wesley Fellowship Class, and the Intercessory Prayer Group; and
Whereas, she is survived by two sons, Bill and Jamye Benik, one daughter, Ellen Benik, and four grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly want Mrs. Benik's family and many friends to know that they are uppermost in their thoughts and have the members' deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Julia Benik of Horry County, and extend deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Julia Benik.
