TO CONGRATULATE THE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA SALKEHATCHIE CHAPTER NO. 828 FOR SPONSORING THE "MOVING WALL", THE HALF SCALE REPLICA OF THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AND TO JOIN THEM IN CELEBRATING THIS MEMORIAL.
Whereas, the Vietnam Veterans Salkehatchie Chapter No. 828 was chartered as an eleemosynary organization on June 24, 1999; and
Whereas, fifty-eight thousand one hundred ninety-six United States Servicemen lost their lives in Vietnam, and thousands of family members and friends of these deceased veterans in South Carolina will not be privileged to visit the "Moving Wall" in Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, the Vietnam Veterans of Salkehatchie Chapter No. 828 invite all of the citizens of South Carolina to visit the "Moving Wall" when displayed at the Barnwell County Airport, in Barnwell, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the "Moving Wall" will be on display at the Barnwell County Airport from April 29, 2000, through May 5, 2000, beginning with a program that will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2000. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Vietnam Veterans of America Salkehatchie Chapter No. 828 for sponsoring the "Moving Wall", the half scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and join them in celebrating this memorial.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Vietnam Veterans of Salkehatchie Chapter No. 828, Comrade Danny Black, President, by Senator Brad Hutto, Representative Thomas Rhoad, and Representative Lonnie Hosey.
