Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:
Almighty God, ever ready to help, grant us minds to seek Your way, and wills to do it. Spare us from closing our eyes to that which we do not want to see, when seeing would prompt help for our fellowmen. Give us hands to help those who need our help and willingness to help along the road of life. Bestow upon us the spirit of selfless service in keeping with the existing need. Hear us, good Lord, in this the prayer of Your grateful people. Amen.
After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
The following Bill was taken up, read the third time, and ordered sent to the Senate:
H. 4644 (Word version) -- Reps. Lucas, Harris, Jennings and Neilson: A BILL TO AMEND ACT 1010 OF 1968, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE CHESTERFIELD COUNTY EDUCATION ADVISORY COUNCIL COMPOSED OF MEMBERS FROM EACH ATTENDANCE AREA OF THE COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE COUNCIL FROM EACH ATTENDANCE AREA SHALL SELECT ITS OWN OFFICERS AND TO PROVIDE THAT OFFICERS OF CERTAIN COUNCILS SHALL SERVE AS EX OFFICIO MEMBERS OF OTHER COUNCILS WITH SPECIFIED AUTHORITY.
Rep. LUCAS moved to reconsider the vote whereby H. 4644 was given third reading and the motion was noted.
At 10:05 a.m. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, February 22.
