The House assembled at 10:00 a.m.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

We thank You, Father in Heaven, that we can come into Your presence knowing that You are ready to hear. Remove from us all bitterness that blights our lives, any resentment that ruins our dispositions, all worry that would wear us out. Enable us to stand firm for what is right and good, help us to live in such a way that when night comes we will have the inner assurances of having fought the good fight and having kept the faith. To You, Lord, we give our praise and thanksgiving. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
