Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:

Almighty God, grant that we may meet the tasks of this day with a firm confidence in Your undergirding and sustaining presence. Fill us with an ever increasing desire to have our people blessed by what they hear we say and do. Grant us the ability to make right judgments, wise decisions and take wise actions for the welfare of Your people. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us to show charity as You have been charitable to us. Lead us, Lord God, lead us on. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

At 10:05 a.m. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, April 18.
