The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:
O God our Father, who has given us the gift of life, bless us this day and every day as we undertake the work that has been laid before us. Though the hours each day are crowded and the tasks are demanding, may our completed work be a tribute of thanksgiving we bring to our God when the day is done. Make us better than we are as we keep our minds stayed on You, "the Giver of every good and perfect gift". Amen.
