TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2386, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to requirements for licensure, designated as Regulation Document Number 2386, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
The State Board of Education promulgated amendments to Regulation 43-51, Requirements for Certification. The regulation clarifies requirements for those individuals seeking a teaching certificate in South Carolina. The amended regulation:
(1) provides clarification of the timeline to meet the requirements;
(2) specifies the requirement for an approved teacher education program;
(3) eliminates citizenship requirements;
(4) clarifies the age requirement;
(5) specifies the requirement for an FBI fingerprint review.
