The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
Beloved, Book of Proverbs speaks to every age of human beings, hear Chapter 16, verse 32:
"He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city."
Let us pray.
Come Blessed Spirit of God, speak to our hearts in the presence of every challenge that we confront as leaders of a confused people.
Help us evermore to remain in control of our minds and our wills, and our emotions, remembering that "out of the heart are the issues of life."
Help us to remember that Peter walked on water as long as his eyes were focused on his Lord Jesus and he began to sink when he was overwhelmed at the sight of the black clouds and the stormy sea.
Amen.
